Welcome to the BPW-Nigeria website

BPW- Nigeria is the Federation of Business and Professional Women - Nigeria. An affiliate of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International).
BPW - Nigeria was founded in 1961 by Lady Obafunmilayo Manuwa and a few like-minded Nigerian women in Lagos. Lady Manuwa first heard of BPW in Addis Ababa where she attended a seminar. In 1962, the Lagos Club became an associate club of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women followed by the Ibadan and Enugu Clubs in 1964 and in 1965, all these clubs became known as The Nigerian Federation of Business and Professional Women, which is now known as Business and Professional Women - Nigeria.

BPW-Nigeria is an affiliate of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (IFBPW) formed in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1930, on the initiative of Dr. Lena Madesin Philips of U.S.A.
BPW is a pressure group, and opinion-making group, non-partisan, not for profit and non-sectarian. It is one of the world's largest organised networks of business and professional women in the world. It actively promotes women into decision-making positions.

Our Mission - "Knowledge is power. Power is a means of influencing policies affecting the lives of women, men and children. BPW works to develop a comprehensive framework of structures to provide the necessary education, training and opportunities to help women achieve economic independence, and assume their rightful place in business, the professions, in politics, and in all decision-making processes".

Our Vision - "To achieve first and equal status of women in all levels and areas of society, where decisions are taken in true partnership with men, based on mutual respect, for a more balanced and respectful world".
